5 “SHOOT FOR SCHOLARSHIPS” Clay Sporting Tournament to Launch New FWSSR Competition TICKETS ON SALE FOR CAA EXHIBITION AND SALE Have shotgun? Then travel the short distance to Defender Clay Sports Ranch on September 29 for the inaugural FWSSR Shoot for Scholarships clay sporting tournament. Keeping the Stock Show’s commitment to expand opportunities for youth participation in our sights, Shoot for Scholarships was created to highlight the Stock Show’s commitment for a youth shooting competition and raise funds for FWSSR scholarship programs. Net proceeds from this year’s tournament will benefit all FWSSR scholarship programs. Funds raised from future Shoot for Scholarship tournaments will be earmarked for the new youth competition which will launch in conjunction with the 2023 Show. “Shooting sports competitions are one of the fastest growing activities for both 4-H and FFA members in the state,” said Stock Show President and General Manager, Brad Barnes. “Creating a youth shooting sports competition has been a goal for Stock Show leadership for the last few years. We encourage everyone who enjoys shotgun sports to join us for a fun event and raise funds for our scholarship programs.” While the tournament is a four-person team format, participants can bring more than one team. Sponsorship levels can accommodate up to three teams with amenities including golf carts, ammunition and recognition at the tournament. Individual entries are welcomed and will be grouped together to form teams. Check in starts at 1 p.m. and the tournament will begin promptly at 2 p.m. An awards ceremony and dinner will be held immediately after competition. Presented by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, the Cowboy Artists of America 55th Annual Exhibition and Sale is scheduled for November 5 and 6 at the Will Rogers Memorial Center. Many of the nation’s most recognized western artists will exhibit and offer for sale more than 100 works in watercolor, acrylic, pencil, mixed media and bronze in the Round Up Inn. A weekend full of fun and fellowship kicks off with a Friday opening reception and viewing followed by a Saturday morning meet and greet, artists’ demonstrations and an awards luncheon. The excitement culminates at the Saturday night sale where guests will enjoy cocktails, food, live music and the chance to purchase some amazing pieces of Western art. CAA members are dedicating the event to Fort Worth arts patron Anne W. Marion who was a longtime supporter of the organization. “We couldn’t be more excited to bring our exhibition and sale to Fort Worth, and to honor this outstanding rancher and supporter of the art form that defines and honors the allure and mystique of the American West,” said CAA President, Grant Redden. “We’re very grateful for the support we’ve received from not just the Stock Show and the Fort Worth arts community, but also local businesses and organizations.” Focusing on a shared mission of education in the arts, the Stock Show and CAA have teamed up with Imagination Fort Worth, a local organization that provides arts-based teaching strategies, creative classroom curriculum and hands-on learning opportunities for area youth. The collaborative effort is planning two innovative learning opportunities. At the CAA exhibition and sale, the Ranch Hand Artists Assistant program will give local art students the unique opportunity to experience the CAA exhibition and sale and the important aspects that make such an event successful. The “Ranch Hands” will be paired with an artist to help guests and buyers during the exhibition and sale. In addition, an exciting youth art workshop is being planned for the 2022 Stock Show. Approximately 50 local art students will be immersed in a day-long format with CAA artists providing hands-on instruction using live models (horses, cattle, etc.) in the Will Rogers Coliseum. For more information on the exhibition and sale or to purchase tickets go to CAA Exhibition and Sale.
