In 1920, Angelo Reck, Nathan’s great grandfather, bought land and planted his roots in what is now known as Santo, Texas, in South Palo Pinto County. After 53 years of raising cattle on the ranch as his father and grandfather did, Ellison Carter started an order buying cattle business called EC Cattle Company to accompany the cow/calf and stocker operation. In addition to the land in Palo Pinto County, EC also owns and operates land and cattle in Haskell and Knox Counties as well as New Mexico. Today, Nathan, and his wife Kayla, are raising their three daughters to be fifth generation ranchers on the same land while helping manage the family business. In addition to caring for their cattle, they also run a small mare band, raising their own ranch and rope horses that are used in all aspects of their day-to-day life. 18 E.C. CATTLE CO.
