W.D. Johnson, Sr., started the Muleshoe brand when he bought the Blackwater division of the XIT Ranch on the Blackwater draw around 1900. The Santa Fe Railroad built a road from Lubbock to Clovis, NM which ran through the middle of the ranch known as the Muleshoe Ranch. By that time Mr. Johnson had sold the ranch to E.K. Warren and son from Three Oaks, Michigan. Warren gave one section for a town-site when the railroad was built. This town was named Muleshoe and still goes by that name. When Mr. Johnson sold the ranch, he maintained the Muleshoe brand. Around 1908, Mr. Johnson and Mr. R.M. Clayton formed a partnership, the Clayton and Johnson Co., and bought a ranch in Borden County in 1913 continuing to use the Muleshoe brand. What is now the Muleshoe Ranch was originally open grazing and used by the Magnolia Land and Cattle Co. prior to 1894. In 1945 Mr. Jerry Clayton, one of R.M. Clayton’s sons, bought the Muleshoe Ranch from another son, A.M. Clayton. In 1957, Jerry Clayton sold the ranch to his daughters, Jere Hubbard and Barbara Anderson. In 1994, Rich and Barbara became the sole owners of the ranch. John Anderson and his wife, Kevva, live on the ranch. Their three children were also raised on the ranch. Clay John and his wife, Krista, live on the ranch and help run it as well. The youngest daughter, Bailey Halverson, and her husband Jake, help with the working ranch program also. Whitney Fuston and her husband, Kye, carry on the family heritage by also working in the ranching industry. MULESHOE RANCH Lot 1 JOHN ANDERSON | GAIL, TEXAS | 806-759-5019 Notes 6 Consigned by

Lot 1 BADGERING SIOUX "SIOUX" 2019 BROWN GELDING AQHA# 6069865 "Sioux" is a sharp looking, good-boned, great minded gelding that has his whole life ahead of him to make his new owners proud. This gelding is from the first crop by our son of A Shiner Named Sioux and out of a home-bred and raised mare. He’s gone through the best hands that we have at our disposal. Started correctly by LJ Stovell, Tanner Lambert then got him started in the roping pen, and Kelsey Thomas has been instilling her stellar program into him since July. "Sioux" is the epitome of ranch horse that has the potential to go excel in several different facets of our industry. He was raised in rough and brushy country, so he travels extremely well outside. Although he’s not the biggest guy in the trailer, he’s plenty stout and tenacious - he's got that want-to drive! He really tries to please you and work for you. Sioux stays pretty even-keeled, but he responds well once asked to rev things up. Even more important than that, he’s got a great stop whenever it’s time to slow everything down again. We would bet our money that he’ll end up being one the whole family can enjoy for many, many years to come. So many different directions that this one can go that you can even go down a few roads at the same time. {A SHINER NAMED SIOUX HAIDAS SUZY {SHINING SPARK DOCS SULENA {HAIDAS SAN BADGER JACKNIFE SUZY {BROWN BADGER BEAR PADDY KAY BADGER {LITTLE BADGER KID SUGAR BEAR WHIZ {PADDYS IRISH WHISKEY TENS YELLOW MANORS Dam: KAY BADGER BEAR Sire: HES A MULESHOE SIOUX BADGERING SIOUX 7

From all accounts, the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company would not exist if it wasn't for Daniel Baldwin Gardner and Eugene Flewellyn Williams, both cousins and life-long friends. They were born in Mississippi in 1851 to plantation-owning families. In 1871, tales of abundant opportunity in Texas lured Gardner to Fort Griffin, located near present-day Albany. In February of 1877, Gardner was one of 17 men who drafted plans for what was to become one of the most powerful and prestigious livestock organizations in the world, which is known today as the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association. In the summer of 1881, Gardner learned that Jerry Savage, who had been running cattle on the South Wichita River under a Pitchfork brand, was interested in selling land, equipment and stock. Needing capital, Gardner thought of his boyhood friend and cousin, Eugene Williams. In 1881, Williams journeyed to Fort Worth and after a dinner meeting announced he was ready to close the deal, without seeing either the land or the cattle. Williams said he was investing in the venture solely because he had the highest regard for his cousin, Dan Garder. Williams wrote a check and took the night train back to St. Louis. The property Gardner and Williams purchased included 2,600 longhorn cattle, 70 horses, wagons and camp equipment, but little land. They did obtain rights to the ranch that bordered the South Wichita River in eastern Dickens and western King counties. Wishing to expand, but lacking capital, the two men found two willing investors from Texas, A.P. Bush, Jr. and Samuel Lazarus and two from St. Louis, A.D. Brown and W. H. Carroll. In St. Louis on December 29, 1883, the partners gathered to adopt the by-laws and elect officers of the newly formed corporation known as the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company. Gardner was chosen to be general manager, a position he held until his death in June of 1928. Six managers have filled the vacancy left by Gardner. These included Rudolph Swenson, Virgil Parr, D. Burns, Jim Humphreys and Bob Moorhouse. Today, the ranch is managed by Brooks Hodges. The Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company stretches some 175,000 acres in two west Texas counties and acreage in Waurika, Oklahoma known as the Pitchfork OK Ranch. The descendants of Eugene Williams continue to operate the 141-year-old ranch in the same conservative manner as did the ranch’s founders. The Burnett Ranches have become known as the Four Sixes, referring to the Brand “6666” that has been worn on cattle for more than a century. A colorful tale has grown around the origination of this now legendary brand – that Burk Burnett won the original ranch in a poker game with a winning hand of four sixes. This story is colorful but untrue. Here’s the real story: around 1867, a young Burk Burnett purchased 100 head of cattle near Denton, Texas, all of which carried this now famous brand. He bought the brand too, and continued to use it as he built his ranch empire. The purchase around 1900 of the 8 Ranch near Guthrie, Texas, in King County from the Louisville Land and Cattle Co., and the Dixon Creek Ranch near Panhandle, Texas, from the Cunard Line marked the beginning of the Burnett Ranches. The 8 Ranch became the nucleus of the present day Four Sixes Ranch. Legendary Quarter Horses and Superior Angus Cattle are hallmarks of the “Sixes.” Headquartered in the small town of Guthrie, Texas, with a population of under 200, the ranch is approximately ninety miles east of Lubbock and as you might imagine the Sixes’ is both slow paced and fast moving while seamlessly blending the time-honored traditions of nearly 150 years with the 21st century. A fully operational cattle and horse ranch, it boasts one of the most sophisticated equine breeding facilities and fully equipped veterinary clinics in the country. In 1994, the Four Sixes Ranch was honored with the AQHA Best Remuda Award for its outstanding working cow horses that tend to thousands of the ranch’s cattle. It has cultivated a steady stream of champion performance and ranch horses produced by the ranch’s elite broodmare band producing some of the elite performers and prospects available in the country. A leader in the agriculture industry, the ranch utilizes over a century of expertise in raising and marketing beef cattle by relying on tried-and-true practical experience and the improvements of modern innovations. Sustaining a long-held vision for conservation, ranch managers are dedicated to implementing practices that reflect good land stewardship while diligently making decisions to increase profitability. The respect and attention devoted to Four Sixes Ranch resources is a priority for sustaining grass, maximizing the genetic potential of beef cattle, and preserving the natural habitats of co-existing wildlife. Bonds Ranch was founded in 1933 by P.R. (Bob) Bonds after he purchased part of the Mary Hicks Ranch, just north of Saginaw, Texas. Not being a cowboy himself, Bob hired Owen (Big Pete) Burnett in 1944 as ranch foreman. Pete Bonds, Bob’s youngest son, was mentored by Burnett following Bob’s death in 1954 and eventually took over the fulltime management of the ranch in 1970. Historically a cow/calf operation, under Pete’s management, the operation became more diversified – expanding its cow/calf genetics, grazing yearlings on leased and purchased land in various states, and finishing cattle in feedyards. The ranch expanded with the purchase of land in Falls and Hemphill counties in Texas and in Union and Colfax counties in New Mexico. Under Burnett’s guidance, Bonds knew the importance of a good ranch horse and became dedicated to breeding quality ranch quarter horses. He needed a stout and smart horse that he could count on every day. In 1971, Bonds purchased mares and fillies from Mrs. Ott Burnett, a cousin of Burk Burnett. As thanks for being generous in a business deal, former Senator William Blakely gifted Bonds Ranch a breeding stallion, Concho Jim, in 1974. This cross of the size and speed of Concho Jim’s lineage with mares with genetics from proven sires like Hollywood Gold, One Eyed Waggoner, and Cee Bars produced the perfect ranch horse for Bonds Ranch – strong, stout, cowy and athletic. Bonds Ranch horses could be found on many of the local ranches and were used in the arena. In 1991, Pete was AQHA World Champion in Amateur Team Penning on Concho Juan Vito. Pete’s daughters were regular finalists at the AQHYA World Championships in Team Penning in the 1990s. They also competed in high school rodeos in cutting, roping, goat tying, and barrel racing on the same horses they rode everyday on the ranch. With such diverse operations and locations, Bonds Ranch quarter horses must be versatile. Horses need to withstand the mountains and rocky terrain of New Mexico as well as the muddy oat fields of Marlin, Texas. Ranch horses are used for every phase of ranch life – from dragging calves to doctoring yearlings to sorting cows. As a family operation, Pete relies on his family for the management of Bonds Ranch. He continues to manage with his wife Jo and their daughters, Missy, Bonnie and April. SAGINAW, TEXAS | 817-437-0002 14 BONDS RANCH Consigned by Lot 5

She wanted a cowy, athletic, and fast horse, and Rocket was the perfect fit for her. He’s been used extensively on the ranch especially at branding and weaning on ranches all over Texas and in ranch rodeos and ranch horse competitions. We used him as a turnback horse during the 2023 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity. His pedigree is as impressive as the number of miles we’ve put on him. Smith Cattle Company was established in 1984 by Mike Smith with a purchase of a ranch in New Mexico, which led into the Feedyard business and the purchase of many more ranches in Texas, Oklahoma, and Mexico over the next 38 years. Included in these ranches, that are part of the Northern Division, are the historical LS Ranch, Quien Sabe Ranch and several others that have been put back together under one fence West and South of Channing, TX, with 30 plus miles of the Canadian River running through the heart of the ranch. In the last couple of years, Smith has added the historic Swenson Flattop Ranch in Stamford, TX, as well as the Waurika, OK, Division. There are also multiple ranches in our Southern Division that stretch from Waco to Mt. Pleasant. Smith Cattle Company, Northern Division, is a cow/calf operation that produces Angus and Charolais breeding bulls for all of Smith's 15,000 head commercial cow herd. All ranch calves are retained and grazed on wheat at our Waurika, OK, Rosebud, NM, Stamford, TX, and Jericho, TX Ranches. In addition to this we operate a large high risk stocker program on all Smith ranches. These cattle will finish at a Smith Cattle feedyard. SMITH CATTLE CO. In 1920, Angelo Reck, Nathan’s great grandfather, bought land and planted his roots in what is now known as Santo, Texas, in South Palo Pinto County. After 53 years of raising cattle on the ranch as his father and grandfather did, Ellison Carter started an order buying cattle business called EC Cattle Company to accompany the cow/calf and stocker operation. In addition to the land in Palo Pinto County, EC also owns and operates land and cattle in Haskell and Knox Counties as well as New Mexico. Today, Nathan, and his wife Kayla, are raising their three daughters to be fifth generation ranchers on the same land while helping manage the family business. In addition to caring for their cattle, they also run a small mare band, raising their own ranch and rope horses that are used in all aspects of their day-to-day life. 18 E.C. CATTLE CO.
