NEWS BRIEFS 2 SEPT. 13 SEPT. 15 SEPT. 15 SEPT. 22 - OCT. 22 SEPT. 15 NOW! CALLING ALL YOUTH ARTISTS IN TEXAS! ENTRIES FOR THE STOCK SHOW ART CONTEST ARE CURRENTLY BEING ACCEPTED! Participation in the Art Contest is open to Texas students (between the ages of 5 and 19 as of January 1, 2022) and currently enrolled in a Texas public, private, charter or home school program in grades kindergarten through 12. Age divisions include: High School; 12 to 14; 9 to 11; 7 to 8; and 5 to 6. There are also art class division competitions for elementary, middle schools and high schools. Artists can enter two-dimensional or three-dimensional submissions. The deadline for entries is Saturday, November 13. The digital edition is being proofed and tested for mobile, tablet and desktop friendliness in order that exhibitors can easily access information needed to enter your animal for the 2022 Stock Show. ENTRIES FOR THE JUSTIN MUTTON BUSTIN’ ® WILL OPEN MIDNIGHT, SEPTEMBER 15! Girls and boys ages 4 through 7 and weighing less than 55 pounds (as of the date of the rodeo performance entered) are eligible. Entries for Mutton Bustin’ are accepted for five FWSSR rodeo performances: Ranch Rodeo – Jan. 14 and 15; Best of Mexico Celebración – Jan. 16; Cowboys of Color Rodeo – Jan. 17; and Bulls’ Night Out – Jan. 18 and 19. The five winners will qualify to ride for the title of Champion Mutton Buster during the Texas Champions Challenge on January 20. Entries fill quickly so set your alarm for midnight, September 15. THE DAY IS COMING! RODEO TICKETS GO ON SALE SEPTEMBER 13! Ticket buying is easier than ever with a full range of privileges for making your purchase and selecting seats in Dickies Arena. Demand is expected to be strong for all rodeos – Ranch Rodeo, Best of Mexico Celebración, Bulls’ Night Out Xtreme PRCA Bull Riding, the new Texas Champions Challenge and the already legendary FWSSR PRORODEO Tournament. To receive updated information on rodeo ticket ordering, go to FWSSR INSIDER and get signed up for Stock Show eblasts. ENTRIES FOR HORSES, POULTRY, PIGEONS, RABBITS AND, OF COURSE, LIVESTOCK WILL BE ACCEPTED BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 15! Exhibitors will be able to print entry forms from the Stock Show’s website also beginning on September 15. Anyone with questions regarding entering the various shows can call 817-877-2400 and ask to speak to either the Horse or Livestock Departments. Judging team and other contest entries can also be submitted beginning September 15. GOLFERS CAN ENTER THE ANNUAL JUSTIN ® SCRAMBLE FORE SCHOLARSHIPS FROM SEPTEMBER 22 THROUGH OCTOBER 22. Scheduled for October 27 at Waterchase Golf Club, the scramble raises funds for the Stock Show’s various scholarship programs: Calf Scramble; Equine Scholarship; Texas M.A.D.E. (Ag Mechanics); Beef Challenge and Art Contest. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. with a noon tee off followed by an awards dinner prepared by world champion chuck wagon cook, Homer Robertson and his crew (Don Rea, Nick Nickelson and Joe Brhlik).
